![]() ![]() Needless to say, this is one of the most powerful processors available in a consumer machine, and you will be absolutely amazed at how fast you can zip through processes that you’ve previously struggled with. The Mac Pro 3.2GHz sports a screaming fast Intel Xeon W processor running 16-cores. One of the most robust and technologically-capable computers on the market, it has most everything you need to put together world-class productions in your studio. If you are really intent on getting a serious music system together, the Apple Mac Pro 3.2GHz is what you need at the heart of it. It can be the bottleneck since many plugins take advantage of it, but you will be ok with a modern cheap gaming GPU. Corsair however announced some (descent speeds) kits, available shortly. 64GB are working fine but you can't take advantage of high speeds with 128GB. DDR5 is weird, there are issues with high speeds (XMP) & 128GB. Most expensive motherboards usually have better connectivity and features but not that much related to performance. Motherboards doesn't play a role in performance (more or less). Question, do you find yourself running out of CPU? Do you use many synths? I agree that if you bump the RAM to 128Gb, and add a couple of NVMe's (solid state storage) will help a lot, and probably you'll be fine for a few years. I have a 9900K on a machine here, and it's a pretty descent CPU not far from your 9700. I just think your machine is more capable than you think and if you add more RAM and some new NVMe, reinstall the operating system and start with fresh install of yours apps and libraries for music, you don't have much to lose by trying it, if you are not happy well you only added some more RAM and a couple of NVMe (in my country NVMe Gen3 drives are about $150 or less for 2TB.) If you really want to spend on new system, well, enjoy! It is a nice time I'm sure. I guess this means that your existing SSD's are SATA, and it's maximum speed is about 550Mb/s. NVMe is the newer style of SSD, it is about the size of a piece of chewing gum, just little thin pieces of electronics, you haven't seen them? Your motherboard (MSI) has 2 slots for these drives, at PCI-e Gen3 speeds, = potential for 3,500Mb/s read speed. I wouldn't say the motherboard affects it much, if it all, it's nice if you have a decent motherboard that has good VRM's for nice smooth power delivery to CPU etc but as to how much any of that affects the task of music production. I don't know about the new i5 or i7, I can't advise, sorry I'm almost entirely sure people did amazing work with i9's in 2020. Of course I'm slightly joking but my point is that if your system works, it works, and so what if some new thing can do a thing in 3 seconds instead 7 seconds, huh. I stopped looking at benchmarks mostly, they just exist to (try to) make me feel bad What do you reccomend for a good pro build to run smooth orchestral templates? Nothing like 500 active tracks or stuff like that.īut I use really heavy library even If i use one articulation at a time and I want to reduce the loading times and have a really stable and functional build. I'll keep the old GPU because for music we don't need it from what I know New liquid cooler, psu, case and other stuff i don't feel like adding more ram would be enough. ![]() The problem here is that if I change cpu and mobo i have to change ram and cpu cooler as well. RAM - 32GB ddr4 fury beast 3200hz (I know it's not that much and the frequency is low as for today standards) ![]() ![]() Usually loads plugins like spitfire symphonic stuff pretty quickly but it became slower and slower over time and I feel like it's time to change it) But I don't have a precise budget, it's just that I don't wanna throw too much money only on this and spend some more for a new desk and library.ĬPU - i7 9700K (the only time I've seen it on fire was trying minecraft in 4k with shaders lol. Basically I have the fortune to make a new build or improve the old one and I want some suggestions because if I can save some money for other things will be great. ![]()
